Since ancient times, the Maya wedding ceremony has been a sacred and spiritual event in a couple’s life. In order to prepare for such an important
moment, the couple undergoes many spiritual and physical activities filled with mystical
chants and smells. A blessed cenote water and Mayan herbal milk
bath ritual in honor of the Goddess of the Moon and femininity,
IxChel, starts this holistic ceremony, followed by a deep
moisturizing mixed of royal organic honey blend with the bio-mineral qualities of Ka’t Mayan
blessed clay to renew skin’s natural balance, leaving it with a beautiful, healthy, smooth glow. Spa pedicure and manicure are next. A nourishing facial to enhance the glow of love will follow with a soft lip gloss to grace the natural beauty in you.

Ancient Body, Mind and Spirit Purification
Breath-taking views of Chichen Itza temples embrace the Mayan jungle of our Zumpul-che Cave. Archaeologists at the ancient Maya city of Chichen Itza have excavated buildings of great interest in the history of massage - the
Royal Zumpul-che or Mayan sweat-bath purification ritual is
celebrated in a sacred ceremonial cave or special temple to purify mind, body, and soul. Aztecs practiced similar purification rituals at a Temazcal
and many Mayan Riviera Spas offer such Aztec sweat-bath practice
rather than this authentic Mayan holistic sweat-bath, where the
healing power of cenote water, first blessed by the Mayan Elder
Healer and then carefully brew with Mayan wild herbs, is poured gently over stones inside the cave.
At each Zumpul-che ceremony, an
J-Men or Mayan Elder Healer
Wiseman, celebrates a "cleaning spiritual ritual" with sacred
chanting Mayan prayers, then he performs a "limpia" to each participants,
followed by anointing them with sacred Ceiba oils. Rhythmic
mystic sounds of Caracol calls and Tun' kul drums are part of
this holistic Mayan ceremony. This cleansing ceremony has the natural beneficial effects, and purification properties, of fire,
wind, earth and water as cosmic energy sources for personal healing;
plus, the sacred oil extracts of the
Ceiba or "Mayan Tree of
Life" help unblock the energy flow of the spirit, mind,
emotions and physical body.
Zumpul-che Cave Ceremonies last 90 minutes and are offered to groups of eight or more guests
only. Reservations need to be made at least twenty-four hours in advance.
